Vladimir Binar presented The Foam of a Chinese Man in Paris

Thursday, 18 October, Vladimir Binar, the first laureate of the Czech Book Award, presented his collection, The Foam of a Chinese Man, to Parisian friends of Czech literature. During the event, held at the Czech Cultural Center of Paris, Jacques Macé and Eva Vokacova-Cendors shared in reading the translated excerpts from the winning book. In excellent French, the author presented his literary technique as well as responded to questions from the audience.

Among the attendees were two Parisian editors, one of which expressed intention to publish the French translation of The Foam of a Chinese Man next year.

The presentation of Vladimir Binar in Paris was jointly presented by the Czech Minister of Culture, the Czech Center of Paris and the Association of the Czech Book Award.

As a writer, translator, literary theorist and opponent to the communist regime, Vladimir Binar published his works only in samizdat until 1989. Since 2001 Binar’s books have been published by Triada Publishing House in Prague. Speaking fluently French and Czech Vladimir Binar is married to a French Tahitian.
